Hachnosas Sefer Torah Invitations — Celebrate a Sacred Milestone

A Hachnosas Sefer Torah invitation celebrates the dedication of a new sefer Torah — one of the most joyous events in Jewish life. Bal Simcha offers customizable Hachnosas Sefer Torah invitation designs with Hebrew and English text, instant WhatsApp sharing, and video invitations for this sacred milestone.

What Is a Hachnosas Sefer Torah?

Hachnosas Sefer Torah (meaning bringing in the sefer Torah) is the celebration held when a new sefer Torah is completed and dedicated. It is one of the most joyous and sacred events in Jewish communal life. The celebration typically includes the completion of the final letters (siyum hasefer), a procession (with the sefer Torah carried under a chuppah), dancing with the sefer Torah, and the installation of the sefer Torah in the shul or beis medrash.

A Hachnosas Sefer Torah is usually sponsored by a family or a community in memory of a loved one, in honor of a simcha, or as a communal project. The event brings together the entire community — family, friends, rabbonim, and community members — to celebrate the completion and dedication of the sefer Torah.

What to Include on a Hachnosas Sefer Torah Invitation

A Hachnosas Sefer Torah invitation should include the name of the person or family sponsoring the sefer Torah (if applicable), the name of the sefer Torah (if it is being dedicated in memory of someone), the date and time, the location (the shul or beis medrash where the sefer Torah will be installed), and the schedule of events (writing of the final letters, procession, dancing, meal). If the sefer Torah is being dedicated in memory of a loved one, include their name.

The invitation should be formal and dignified, reflecting the sacred nature of the occasion. On Bal Simcha, every word is customizable. Choose from our Hachnosas Sefer Torah invitation templates and tailor the wording to your celebration.
